Arkansas Arts Council Approves Fiscal 2020 Grants

Arkansas Arts Council - Thursday, November 14, 2019

Staff met recently to go over how to submit an application online for the Arts in Lifelong Learning mini-grants.The Arkansas Arts Council recently approved more than $1.2 million in grants that support arts and artists statewide.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to support the growth of the arts across Arkansas,” Director Patrick Ralston said. “The arts are a vital component of our state’s economy and make Arkansas a great place to live and work.”

Grant applications were reviewed and ranked by an out-of-state panel based on quality. The advisory board of the Arkansas Arts Council also looked at the grants for fiscal 2020, which ends July 1.

More than 100 groups were approved for funding that covers costs associated with arts projects, programming or operations. Statewide, 57 arts organizations with operating budgets of $50,000 or more received General Operating Support grants. The money helps support organizations with costs such as paying administrative salaries. Applications for general operating grants in fiscal year 2021 are underway and will be accepted until Jan. 24.

Other grants also are accepting applications. A $10,000 matching grant for after-school programs is open until Jan. 31. Applications for Collaborative Project Support grants, which help fund arts projects put together by two or more community organizations, close Jan. 10.

The Arkansas Arts Council also has ongoing grants, including The Sally A. Williams Artist Fund grant that pays up to $500 to help support the professional development and advancement of an artist’s career.
